Those mums who’ve got their sh*t together

We all know one of those mums, the one who’s got their shit well and truly together. Sadly I’m not one of those mums and I have to admit I do feel pretty inferior around them.

I’d love to say that I have everything organised and a routine which runs like clockwork on a daily basis. Sadly though, I find myself muddling through from one day to the next, hoping that I haven’t forgotten anything vital like a non-uniform day or a school trip.

I’ve always felt like I was a bit of a failure in this respect. I thought that all the other mums have it all down and they’re all super prepared and it was just me fumbling around in the dark.

Over the last few years though, I’ve grown to understand that we’re all in the same boat. We all juggle so many things and wear so many hats that we’re all pretty much as bad as each other! Since having my daughter I’ve gained more Mum friends than I did with my eldest son and we’re pretty much all just winging it!

There will always be those mums who actually do have their shit together. Those mums who sew their child’s costume for the nativity rather than hastily ordering on their amazon prime account the night before, praying it arrives first thing in the morning. Those mums who pull out all the stops for their child’s birthday parties, hiring the best entertainers as well as the bouncy castle, glitter tattoos and balloon models. Those mums who are part of the school PTFA and run a stall at every event. Those mums that take their children to ballet on Monday, Ju Jitsu on Tuesday, Swimming on Wednesday, Gymnastics on Thursday, Trampolining on Friday and then find time for Street Dance on Saturday mornings.

I salute the mums who have their shit together. I now accept that I’ll never be one of those mums. Sadly I’m just not cut from that cloth!

It’s so lovely to hear it’s not just me. I think my children take it in turns to have their “off” phases, although actually we’ve had a completely drama-free day so far! Oops, jinxed it now!
